Faubion MS Ranked #1 in 2018 State Accountability

Campus Awards
Each year the Texas Education Agency groups each campus in the state into "Comparison Groups" based on criterion that place similar campuses into groups that can be most fairly compared based on research-based demographic criterion. The schools are placed into a group of 40 schools that are most alike across the state of Texas. These groupings help determine the overall rankings within the comparison groups and those rankings determine the coveted Distinction Designations, considered the highest award that individual campuses can earn each year based the State's Accountability System.

The following variables are used to determine like schools in forming Comparison Groups:
  • total enrollment,
  • % of students who are economically disadvantaged,
  • mobility rate,
  • % of English Learners, and
  • % of students served by special education

Based on the performance of FMS students on the State's STAAR exam, including all subpopulations, the campuses are ranked based on five separate domains and the most important "Overall" score for which the schools are ranked within their comparison group and Distinction Designations are awarded. There are seven possible Distinction Designations:
  • Academic Achievement in English Language Arts/Reading
  • Academic Achievement in Mathematics
  • Academic Achievement in Science
  • Academic Achievement in Social Studies
  • Top 25 Percent: Comparative Academic Growth (Domain 2, Part A)
  • Top 25 Percent: Comparative Closing the Gaps (Domain 3)
  • Postsecondary Readiness

We are extremely proud to be ranked #1 in the State of Texas for our comparison group. As you can see from the list, the comparison groups include highly regarded schools from highly regarded school districts across the state. We are also proud to have earned four Distinction Designations:
  • Academic Achievement in Science
  • Top 25 Percent: Comparative Academic Growth (Domain 2, Part A)
  • Top 25 Percent: Comparative Closing the Gaps (Domain 3)
  • Postsecondary Readiness

This report provides the domain scores for each campus in a comparison group. It allows the user to sort by any domain score and see how a particular campus performed in relation to other campuses in the comparison group. Domain scores in bold indicate that the campus met the target for that domain. For more information see Using the Accountability Ratings Domain Data Overview Report Tool.
